This Washington, DC newborn session was magical because there was absolutely nothing intentional about it, well, minus our must-have baby wearing portraits (because, damn, look at those shots).

Have I mentioned that you may be the ideal Cerissa Photography newborn session client if you are super ready to go with the flow? All the heart eyes for this family of four who let our sesh run its course the way it decided to.

Big sis walked up to me while I was photographing the fam together, with her arms outstretched, wanting me to carry her. I continued photographing mom and dad with her perfect baby sister, while balancing my new bff on my hip. What a compliment; she was so comfortable with my being there that she crossed the line between “strange lady with camera following me around” and “I’m home and comfy.”

The portrait of big sis checking on the baby in her crib is not only one of my most favorite portraits I’ve ever taken, but it also reminded me of this quote that makes me think of everything cozy and gentle:

“Pooh!” whispered Piglet.
“Yes, Piglet?” said Pooh.
“Oh, nothing,” said Piglet.
“I was just making sure of you.”

These parents are so chill and so real, the kind of vibes that remind me that there is so much good in the world, and their sweet girls remind me that there’s so much promise for even better.
