First Birthday Portraits: Chantilly, VA

A few weeks ago I had another sesh with one of my favorite families… to get some first birthday portraits in the books. And we met at one of my favorite locations in the area (Cabell’s Mill in Chantilly) on a super warm summer morning. A little story, first!

We were on a road trip home from Pittsburgh when I started emailing with this mama. She had seen that we were there, and told me about how she and her husband had a history in the city. She decided to book me for both maternity and newborn sessions. I can’t believe it’s been over a year! 

From sweet tooth recommendations to parenting, to education, to encouragement during the pandemic, to anti-racism, to wineries, this woman’s presence has enriched many of my days, even just with quick DM exchanges.

This family is so sweet, and this one year old is so obviously happy, loved by, and in love with his parents. I will forever remember that during this session, we sang the Beatles and If You’re Happy and You Know It. And that I learned that there is a song for Chicka Chicka Boom Boom (… did you know that??).
