Blagden Alley: DC Lifestyle Family Session
When I’m working with a family to pick a location for their sesh, it’s always so fun when they choose an unexpected option from my list of favorite places. It’s a challenge, and it’s an opportunity to be creative in multiple ways (not just how I see your interactions, but how everyone plays, how the light works, what surprising spots interest us all).
This dad purchased a gift certificate for mom for the 2018 holidays, and I had been waiting for the opportunity to photograph this awesome family. We met on a really sunny, hot morning, right before autumn began, and their little girl took just a few minutes to warm up to me. How did her parents get her to smile and run all over Blagden Alley, posing super happily in front of every single background we wanted to hit? We asked her if there was a doggy behind each door/garage. There could have been, you know.
For a moment, I wasn’t sure we’d be able to get her to be still enough with her dad to get a shot of them close together, because the second she got close to him, she wanted to play/go find the next doggy. But you’ll see the shot that I was most in love with, below. Another moment where I had already been prepping to move on, but turned and snapped.
If you haven’t made a trip to Blagden Alley to see the DC Alley Museum, you absolutely must. And you can shoot me an email to see if I’d be available to photograph you experiencing it. 😉
