Everyday moments, new seasons

I’m so grateful that my clients reach out when they’re entering a new season of life. I love capturing your everyday moments, before the leaves change. New home, new baby, new pet, a pet growing older, graduations… I can’t wait to see more of you this year.

In trying to get in the habit of answering some of your questions and rejuvenate my blog (WHAT BLOG)…

How should I prepare my home before you come over?

Let’s begin with that you should not stress! My entire approach is built around you being you, and that includes your home being your home the way you will remember it. That said, here are some ways you can prepare for my arrival (with all that free time you’ve got ;)):

Tidy up a few key areas

Focus on a few key areas. Where would you like to hang out? The living room, bedroom, nursery, sunroom? Clear out any clutter (think any piles of laundry, jackets hanging on chairs, excess toys, random papers, tissue boxes or glasses cases on nightstands) so we can keep the focus on you and your family. How should you pick which areas you’d like to hang? Think about where you will remember your family spending most of their time, and think about what rooms/spots get the most natural light (see the next section for more).

All of the (natural) light

If you are one of my returning clients, you know that I prefer natural light. Open up all the blinds, turn off all the artificial light, and settle in to chill! What if your home doesn’t get a lot of natural light? Weird thing about me — I love the challenge of working with different environments. We’ll find the light, I’ll bump up the settings in my camera, and also, I always have a flash in my bag just in case! If you’re concerned, reach out and let’s dicuss!
