Washington, DC Lifestyle Family Portrait Session

I photographed this DC family before they were a family of three, when baby girl was still in her mama’s belly. Before mom and dad were mom and dad. I hung out with them again to take some newborn portraits, then a couple of months ago, this mama messaged me saying that she wanted some casual portraits taken during their morning routine, that she really gets what my work is about now.

I can’t believe how lucky I am to have clients who return again and again so that I can capture their life unfolding, but I’m even luckier when clients return again and again because they “get it” — and if you “get it” — my best work totally follows. And the icing is that this mama has become a good friend of mine.

We hung out for a bit one summer morning last month, before baby girl got out of her pjs, before mama had her morning coffee, and before we all walked out the door with dad for work. I seriously can’t get over how real this fam is, how bluntly this mama and I can talk about life and motherhood, or how much coffee I had that morning.
